Mrs. Seigle

| 4k team lead

My name is Shannon Seigle, and this is my 25th year teaching science. I have taught a variety of sciences to students from 7the grade through college. This is my 7th year teaching 11th grade Biology and 12th grade Scientific Research at STEM School Chattanooga. I love science and doing hands-on activities and labs, and I am inspired by seeing young people enjoy and accept the challenge of being scientists. At STEM, my room is the home of the first ever hub of the 4K Microscope project, where, through the connectivity of the Gig, students can video-teleconference with other schools to share the experience of collecting authentic data.

Eric Chen

Hello, my name is Eric Chen and I'm a senior at STEM School Chattanooga. I decided to apply to be a 4K Grad Assistant after being fascinated by the intricacies of the microscopic organisms we were studying during biology class. I'm interested in engineering and I want to create technology that helps society through artificial intelligence and robotics. I'm glad we're able to share this incredible research opportunity with our partnership schools through remote access software for the microscope. I'm extremely excited to see what we can discover with the 4K microscope this semester.

Alex Mangan

My name is Alex Mangan. I am a senior at the STEM School Chattanooga and part of the 4K Microscopy class of 2022. I decided to join the team because I love science, and I want to pursue a career in Biomedical Engineering. After seeing microscopes in action for the first time in elementary school, I fell in love with the world that is so much smaller than what we can see. On one of the first days of biology class junior year we looked at the 4K scope, and I knew that this class would be perfect for me and what I want to do with my life. I am determined to use science to improve the world and people's lives, and I hope that this class will help me achieve that goal.
